Anti - Aging skin care: Helpful tips for ageless beauty

​As we get older, a number of visible and hidden changes occur within our skin and we wonder how can we reverse this visible aging process? Aging occurs in the body as the production of collagen decreases which leads to slower growth of skin cells.  These lead to visible changes in the skin making it become discolored, wrinkled and often times saggy. While it has been reported that it’s impossible to reverse the aging process; however, some steps can be taken to minimize the signs of aging.

The most important thing to remember when seeking an effective healthy anti-aging skin care regime is to start early. While wrinkles, discoloration, and lines are all signs of aging, one of the most critical aging factors is the environmental elements. Prolong exposure of the skin to the sun’s UV rays, pollutants, harsh climates, stress and wrong cosmetics choices can all lead to enhancing your skins aging process.

Whether you’re dealing with the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles or uneven skin tone, below are some of the things you can do in order to minimize the visible signs of aging for your skin. 

What is your skin type?

Knowing your skin type is the first step in any anti-aging skin care routine. This will allow you to know the right skin care products to use and ensure that your skin will look great for years to come. Find out what type of skin you have. If your skin is consistently greasy across your face, then you likely have oily skin. Are your cheeks dry but your T-zone area is oily? You probably have combination skin. If your skin feels tight to touch and feature flakiness, then your skin may be dry. You’re likely to have normal skin if your skin is blemish-free and feels good without any external symptoms. Keep your skin type in mind when shopping for skin care products and also consult a dermatologist if you have any questions about your skin’s needs.

Limit sun exposure

Prolong exposure to the sun is the biggest factor causing aging for millions of people. Before going out, always apply a broad spectrum SPF greater than 15 every day and look for a skin care cream that also provides you with anti-aging capabilities to ensure you skin cells rejuvenate. If you are going to stay outdoors for an extended period of time, make sure to reapply it at 2-3 hour intervals. You should also wear sunglasses and a hat to protect your skin further and prevent fine lines from occurring due to the sun.

Watch your diet

The type of food you eat has a significant impact on your skin and your health as well. Make sure you incorporate vegetables, fruits, and lean proteins into your diet. Also, ensure that you eat food that contain Omega-3s and lots of anti-oxidant supplements. Increasing your daily water consumption to keep your body hydrated will go a long ways to keeping your skin looking healthy. Also try to avoid alcohol intake, and use of illicit drugs or wrong prescriptions. This will help your skin look supple and younger.

Exercise and sleep more

We've all seen our boss or a co-worker come in to work the next day and there are visible signs of stress and lack of sleep showing on their face. Getting 8 hours of sleep a day helps to minimize these visible signs and helps your skin. Aside from reducing stress level, our skin regenerates when we sleep. Exercise is also a great way to reduce aging of the skin. Exercise pumps up the body to increase blood circulation, which can give your skin a radiant glow.  These tips will help restore your skin and give it a natural glow.
