Healthy Natural Hair
The transition from relaxed hair to natural hair is never easy as one needs to be committed and dedicated to the cause of being a natural haired girl. This is never easy however, it is manageable and it better than having different chemicals that burn the skin.

In addition, if one’s natural hair is not how they would have wanted it to be its due to the fact that they’ve forgotten the basics of natural hair maintenance. Listed below are the basics tips every girl should know about natural hair

8 Tips for Healthy Natural Hair

1.
Keep It Clean, but Use a Mild Shampoo
As much as shampooing hair daily might look like a good way to keep the hair clean, this isn’t healthy as one tends to overdo it and may lead to stripping the hair of its natural oils hence, making it dry and brittle. One should also avoid shampoos with sulfate.

2. Don’t Scrub Your Hair Dry
After washing the hair, it tends to become more vulnerable to damage using a dry cloth or towel as this may lead to breakage or hair damage. It’s advisable to use an old t-shirt instead to dry the hair as they are also more absorbent and won’t damage hair.

3. Don’t Tug At Tangles
Tagging at tangles tends to damage the hair as well as roots.one can easily tease out the tangles using a wide comb instead. While brushing, one should brush away from the roots as this helps spread natural oils evenly over the full length of hair.

4. Deep Condition
One need not go get expensive hair products to do this as they can easily warm up simple oils such as olive oil, coconut oil, almond oil or linseed oil will do the job. Having this every week not only maintains the hair’s strength but also improves the texture and bounce.

5. Avoid Too Much Heat
Heat is never good for any kind of hair as it thins it out hence, making it weak. This may lead to breakage which is never a good thing. Hence, one should simply turn down the heat or let the hair dry out naturally. In addition, one should avoid washing hair with extremely hot water as well.

6. Keep Hair Well-Trimmed
Management of split ends is very essential and the longer one stays without managing them the longer they will be defined. Regular growth may make the hair grow thicker as well as healthier.

7. Protein Rich Masks
In case one is prone to frizzy hair, then one could opt for an alternate weekly hot oil conditioning treatment or a high protein hair mask. A simple hair mask may easily contain eggs mixed with either avocado or mayonnaise. One could easily make this mask once a week, have it on for an hour then wash it off.

8. Eat and Drink Your Way to Healthy Hair
Hair may be affected by what one eats. Keeping a well-balanced diet is essential for healthy hair.in addition one also needs to stay hydrated hence, a lot f water daily can be healthy not only to the hair but also the body. Fruits, seeds, nuts and vegetables also may help in keeping the hair shiny and bouncy.

In summary, natural hair is actually manageable regardless of how stressful it might seem to manage it.

How to Care For Black Hair

Caring for Black Hair
Black hair can be very diverse and hard to manage due to being curly or bulky,  and options can vary with regard to how one wants to style their hair to look natural, relaxed or braided. Deciding how to manage, wear or style black hair can be challenging but you really have many options. We decided to focus on just six options that we believe will help you manage black hair better. However, as much as it may be flexible hair, one needs to know how to care for the hair as best as possible. The key to having beautiful, healthy hair is to moisturize and gentle treatment as black hair may easily become dry and brittle. When it comes to caring for black hair it tends to take a bit more extra effort, but the silky, soft and healthy results are worth it.

6 Tips to Help Keep Black Hair Healthy & Shiny

1. Wash the Hair Once Or Twice a Week
When it comes to washing hair many believe that washing our hair daily is healthy but studies have found that it is the opposite. When you wash your hair on a daily basis it loses the natural oils and this may end up damaging the scalp which in turn can damage the health of our hair. Washing your hair once or twice a week helps prevent dryness as well as product build up.

2. Use a Moisturizing Conditioner and Essential Oils
Essential oils such as olive oil, castor oil among others help natural hair become healthier and will help black hair look shiny. These oils are normally very good for the hair and also helps in the growth and maintenance of natural hair. They also help the natural hair become manageable while combing.

3. A Wide Tooth Comb
Natural black hair tends to be very bulky at times and using small toothed combs tends to be a really bad idea as this cuts your hair and will more than likely damage the hair roots. In addition, (just like washing your hair) one should avoid combing the hair on a daily basis. You can simply comb your black hair using their hands but if you must comb your hair every day - use a wide tooth comb.

4. Avoid Heat Styling As Much As Possible
When it comes to natural hair, most can be managed while still wet which will also help you keep your hair healthy. If it’s styling of Bantu knots you can easily tie them without having to straighten the hair. However, if heat is required we recommend that you use very low heat to help keep your hair from getting damaged.

5. Avoid wearing High-Stress Hairstyles for prolonged Periods
We all love creating tight pony tails and tight braids because they look amazing; however, they tend to place a lot of stress on your hair that can cause damage. With time, the hair tends to create crimps and can breakage in the hair as well as loss of hairline. This can also bring about the thinning of follicles which may lead to thinning along the hairlines. Although braiding your hair on occasion is certainly fine for short periods of time but we recommend that you don't make this a habit.

A better solution if you love these styles is using protective techniques when doing cornrows, braids or even weaves that don’t necessarily have to hurt. As a rule of thumb,  if it hurts when you braid your hair then you know that it is too tight and is damaging your hair. You should also avoid the use of rubber bands while styling hair as they can damage the hair as well. We advise using a pony tail holder without a metal clip.

6. Opt for Sewn-In Weaves to glued-in weaves
The sewn-in weaves tend to be better as one doesn’t have to use the glue when it comes to the attachment of the weaves. The glued-in weaves tend to easily rip out of your hair when it's being removed, thus causing more damage to the hair.

In conclusion, black hair is not impossible to manage with these techniques. All hair is different and some people have really thick hair, others are curly - all have their own uniqueness.
